Mr Dave Brown 3rd Dan
Mr Brown has competed in many local and national competitions winning trophies in both coloured belt and black belt divisions. During his Taekwondo career Mr Brown has attended various
National Coaching Foundation key courses (covering general sports topics
not just specific to martial arts). He qualified as a competition Umpire
in March 1992 and in October 1994 emerged from the referee's course having
been awarded a senior referee qualification. He was one of 20 senior referees
selected to officiate at the 1998 World Taekwondo Championships in Birmingham,
England Before qualifying as an instructor Mr. Brown helped run the Deeside club with the instructor Mr O'May. On successful completion of his instructor's courses in 1992 he opened a new club in Prestatyn. Under Mr Brown's tuition the Prestatyn club quickly emerged as one of the most successful clubs in the area. Within two years the young club won an annual inter-club event at Nantwich in Cheshire. The Prestatyn club entered numerous competitions obtaining various local and national titles along the way. After directing the Prestatyn club to success Mr. Brown decided to open a second club in the Chester area. He started Chester Taekwondo club in June 1994. Since the initial opening the club has grown from strength to strength. Mr. Brown is very self motivated and runs his clubs with lots of enthusiasm, dedicating himself 101% to the success of his students. This obviously shows with the very high rate of Advanced passes at gradings and at competition level having students with local, national and British titles. In November 1995 Mr. Brown was nominated and received the award for instructor of the year for Wales by the Taekwondo Association of Great Britain. Mr Brown and his family moved to the Isle of Man at the end of 1998. He started the Douglas taekwondo club in November 1999. |
